I have to admit that my own social media accounts are not focused on Facebook, this is predominantly because I have a limited amount of time and that I find other platforms of more use to me in reaching my target audience. That doesn’t mean that I don’t value Facebook or understand how it works, it simply means that I prefer to run two social media accounts extremely well rather than three or more less effectively.

Anyway let’s talk about Facebook because to many online marketers it’s a real boon as it’s not only the largest of the social media platforms, it’s also the most addictive and you can achieve an awful for little or no cost, apart from your time that is.

Set Up a Business Page

Every business should have its own business page as this offers you some added features that personal accounts lack at the moment. To set up a business page on Facebook, you first need a personal page. But once you do have that, its easy set up your business page. The business page enables you to promote your business actively while a personal page is not supposed to be used for that. It’s also free to set up and the ability to schedule posts and get access to Facebook stats makes this extremely worthwhile.

Set Up a Community

A Facebook community is very useful in terms of being able to discuss things with your customers, or potential future customers. You can easily set up a community in the same way you set up the business page, simply choose “community.” A community has more communication ability between your likes and followers than a business page.

Set Up a Private Group

A private group is a great way to run a small or even large mastermind group without having to invest in the technology yourself. You can make them private and even secret. If you have a secret group, you’ll have to actively recruit people to join; you can even charge people money to join if your group offers enough value to warrant it.

Promote a Post

On your business pages you’ll have the capability to post things and you’ll get a button that offers you to “promote” the post, which means you can advertise your post. You can bid a certain amount that you wish to pay but where Facebook comes into its own is in its ability to allow you to choose your audience. Not only that but you can really narrow down your focus so that it only appears to a very select few, this is pure genius and it’s what makes Facebook advertising one of, if not the most effective.

Run a PPC Advertizing Campaign

Even without a business page you can create advertisements via your personal page on Facebook. It’s wonderful because you can narrow down your target audience in ways that you may not have realized that you could. You can target with age, sex, location, groups and affiliations. It doesn’t get much more niched down than that and nothing else comes close to allowing this sort of focus.

Join Groups and Communities

A great way to market your business on Facebook is to join other peoples groups that attract your target audience. Then, simply help others, don’t try and sell just be yourself and help and don’t have an agenda other than helping and getting involved. Build your reputation by helping and then let your reputation speak for you.

Comment on Pages, Groups and Communities

When it comes to marketing on Facebook, a good use of your time is to make smart, intelligent and useful comments on posts that the owner of the page or group post, as well as being helpful to others who post. The aim is to be seen to be helpful and in the end a resource to others, so that people automatically turn to you for help and advice.

Share and Like

If you want people to share what you are doing, be sure to share and like what they are doing, human nature is simple, and we help those that help us. Facebook has some amazing communities when it comes down to it. You’ll find competitors sharing each other’s work and actively help one another, instead of bashing each other to bits. In fact I use Facebook to chat with many of my competitors although they are actually friends now, as we all help one another.

Using Facebook to market your business is an excellent way to market your business online. You can do so many things including contests, sharing images, memes, videos, blog posts, and more. If your target audience is on Facebook, and you have a liking for the platform you should jump right in and get started using Facebook to market your business today. But, be warned, you need to follow Facebook’s terms of service in order to continue as you do with any social media platform or you risk losing your account.
