Every single business owner that operates in your niche is trying to earn the attention of your target audience, this is an ongoing process that transcends location. To compete and gain attention for your business you’ll need to earn attention online, offline and in between to make the most impact. You should be earning attention from the content that you share on every channel. The content needs to be consistent, relevant to your target audience and it should truly represent you and your business.

Build Consistency across All Channels

Whether it’s your LinkedIn profile, a social media profile or your guest blogger bio, it’s extremely important that how you represent yourself, is consistent across all these mediums. You don’t want to confuse anyone as to who you are, what you do, and what you stand for.

In addition, consistency can relate to the frequency by which you distribute content for your audience. It needs to be ongoing and regular in order to be effective. Studies show that blogging at least 20 times per month leads to at least 55 percent more traffic, and believe me it’s not as hard as you think… as I’m an avid blogger posting something at least daily.

Create Relevant Content that Engages Your Target Audience

Pick Me, Pick Me, Earning the Attention of Your Target AudienceIf the content you create and share across all your channels is not relevant to your target audience, you’re wasting your time. Sure, it’s fun to share a funny cat picture sometimes, but if you cannot relate it to your business, best leave that for your personal accounts and not your business accounts.

Those who trusted you enough to connect with you are expecting a certain amount of professionalism and for you to stick to the subject matter at hand. This is especially true on social media where your audience will not hesitate to tell you when you’re way off the mark.

Develop a Story That Is a True Representation of Your Business

Don’t pass around a fake story, the internet is full of real people, with real stories, so there’s no point in making one up that is not true. Your own story is important, no need to embellish it. Plus, if people found out you lied or embellished you will have a real hard time (if it’s even possible at all) reconnecting with people and earning their attention again. You really only get one chance, especially online. Just be the best you, and tell the best real story of you and your business that you have and people will like and engage with you.

Finally, be willing to take a little risk occasionally to gain the attention of your target audience. While consistency is needed in your message, how you deliver the message can take many different forms. You don’t have to settle for being boring or even become “expected”, instead you can combine consistency with taking a risk now and then with a controversial headline or blog post, or by jumping out of your comfort zone to host a live event, for example.

Let's Make Your Website a Success
Wouldn't it be nice to generate some real business?

About Me

I've been designing and marketing websites and businesses for over 24 years and prior to this I worked in sales, marketing and big business for almost 18 years... which makes me not only old, but also highly experienced at this marketing and Internet stuff.  I've won lots of awards and helped thousands of people, and this website is a testament to the information I share freely to help others succeed online.

When I'm not designing websites, doing this online marketing stuff or writing. I love nothing more than getting out on a weekend and scuba diving. I'm a qualified rescue diver and love getting wet in the waters around Perth and Rottenest Island. I also cycle, which must be a sight as I'm not the thinnest of people (lol)... and a paddle on a kayak or a swim helps makes most weeks, perfect. At home I have a marine reef tank, which I just love and on top of that I've an awesome dog, called Ziggy.

What Can I Do For You?

I can work with you to design a website and marketing strategy that actually works. You'll get a website that looks fantastic but also attracts and engages your potential customers, helping generate leads, sales and profits.
