In fact the more types of content they you can include, the more engaging it will be for your audience. They will want to spend more time on your blog, read more, engage more, and eventually even buy more.

It’s so easy to create videos using your webcam to educate and entertain your audience, if you utilize Google hangouts with the screen sharing option you can record your screen to visually teach your audience how to do something as you go through a slide show or show them in real time. Video brings a new and exciting element to your blog that is unsurpassed in opportunity.


Podcasts are extremely popular; people love downloading them and listening to them later in the day or when driving to and from work. You can turn any blog post into a podcast by recording it using software already on your computer.


An infographic is a pictorial depiction typically of data put together in an interesting and engaging way. Most infographics are fairly long and can include a lot of data. If you have any data centric blog posts or informational articles, consider repurposing them into an infographic.


Use beautiful imagery, quotes, facts and data to create pictorial images that are about 350×350 pixels depending on where you use them. You can put them on your blog; and they work extremely well if you share them on social media.


Larger blog posts that are complete guides to something, are very popular and will increase the authority level of your website. These are typically long blog posts with a lot of information links to other information on and off your website.


Anytime you’re not sure what type of content to put up, try doing a review. There are likely books within your niche, movies, educational programs, software products, info products and more that you can easily do reviews about. Be completely honest, include images, and disclose how you came by the product you’re reviewing.

Interviews and Webinars

Believe it or not, interviews, webinars and other recorded events can become content for you on your blog. Record, cut it into shorter versions, transcribe it, make infographics to support it and you can create lots of content out of one interview, webinar or Google hangout.

New Formats

When new formats come out for content, include them in your content mix. Mixing things up and making things look a little different will go far in keeping the interest of your audience.

Blogging is lucrative, fun and interesting and highly addictive when you really get into it. You can make it even more wonderful by being creative in the types of content you include on your blog. As long as the content fits your audience, and your overall content marketing strategy go ahead and include it, and be creative with how you present the information.

When I'm not designing websites, doing this online marketing stuff or writing. I love nothing more than getting out on a weekend and scuba diving. I'm a qualified rescue diver and love getting wet in the waters around Perth and Rottenest Island. I also cycle, which must be a sight as I'm not the thinnest of people (lol)... and a paddle on a kayak or a swim helps makes most weeks, perfect. At home I have a marine reef tank, which I just love and on top of that I've an awesome dog, called Ziggy.
